Primary 2/3

It’s hard to believe that February is over and we are into the second half of the term. Your child is now half way through his/her Primary 2/3 year! But don’t despair – there is still a lot of work and play in store over the coming months and we really appreciate and rely on your involvement.

Our new topic for this half term is ‘PEOPLE WHO HELP US’ (with emphasis on ‘the Emergency Services’). We will begin by exploring the topic of ‘the hospital’ but this could possibly lead on to:

          The Doctor’s Surgery

          Ambulance/Paramedics

          Police Service

          Fire Service...

We will follow the children’s lead.

Things We Need:

We would be most grateful if you could donate any of the following items which we could use to inform our learning through play:

Bandages, slings, plasters, empty tablet/medicine bottles (rinsed out)…

We also welcome the lend of anything your child wishes to bring in for our ‘Interest Table’ or ‘Planning Board’ eg books, real stethoscope, real x-rays, toys, books, pictures related to the topic… (As always, these will be looked after and returned on completion of the topic.)

We hope to have a range of visitors to talk to the children about their role within the ‘emergency services’. Dates for these have not been confirmed but we will keep you informed.

If you work within the ‘emergency services’ and would be willing to come and talk to the children about your job, please let us know.
