About Us
St Mary's was built in 1981 to replace two former parish schools, St Joseph's at Ballycranbeg and St Mary's in Blackhall Street in the village of Kircubbin. The school has a rich and esteemed history in serving the families in the Parish of Ardkeen and it is proud of the legacy of our school. The school itself is situated on spacious, abundant grounds that are utilised to enhance the learning opportunities and we work very closely with the local community.
St Mary's is a co educational Catholic school for children of all faith backgrounds and abilities, where good behaviour and high academic standards are the norm. Our faith guides everything we do and more importantly the way in which we do it. In recent years, the addition of two Social Communication Units has enriched the educational experience of all learners as we cater for pupils of all abilities and talents. There are currently 131 boys and girls in our school.
The formation of the faith in our young people and their social and academic progress is of course our primary focus. Rigorous procedures are in place to ensure that every child develops their God given skills and talents to the best of their ability. Our school mission statements is central to all that we do here in St Mary's to ensure a curriculum for all that takes pride in our past and prepares learners for the future!
